RADIO THRESHOLD

2002

Public pirate radio station

A temporarily established public access radio station. The station ran for two months, during which time more than 300 local individuals responding to an open poster invitation contributed radio items of their own creation which were broadcasted all over Amsterdam. This work responded to the imminent radio wave privatization act planned for september of that year. The Dutch state announced a 'clearing of the ether' period for the previous july and august, during which pirate stations were located and shut down. It was during this period that this station was operating as a last public radio podium for the people of Amsterdam.
